Volunteer Services Program
All across America, volunteers are busy about the business of doing for
others.  Many individuals focus their volunteer efforts through
organizations and others simply lend a hand whenever they learn there is
a need.  The Macon County General Hospital Volunteer Program was
established to encourage persons in the community to get involved in
the life of the hospital and the lives of the people we serve.

Service opportunities at the hospital include, but are not limited to
visiting with patients, helping patients with meals, filling water pitchers,
reading to patients and transporting patients.  If a volunteer prefers not
to have patient contact, he/she may choose to help with beautification
of the hospital's green spaces or to assist in one of the non clinical
departments.  We are currently looking to recruit volunteers to man the
switch board in the early evening hours.

Previous volunteer experience is not needed to become a hospital
volunteer.  The only requirements are a desire to be of service to others
and a willingness to become involved.  Anyone interested in
participating in the MCGH Volunteer Program may contact Pamela Deck,
RN at (615) 666-2147, extension 378.
