Patient and Visitor Recommendations Effective 09/11/2009

In an effort to keep our patients, visitors and employees safe from the FLU, the Centers
for Disease Control and Macon County General Hospital are making the following
recommendations:

  • The hospital asks you to please refrain from bringing children to the Emergency Waiting
Area or inside the Emergency Room unless they are a patient.  This is for their
safety/wellness as well as other patients.

  • If you have a cough, sore throat, and/or fever of 100 degrees or higher (flu like
symptoms), and are wanting to visit a patient, please consider returning to the hospital at
    a later date.

  • If you have flu like symptoms, remain at home at least 24 hours after you are fever free.

  • Once you are symptom free for 24 hours, you may return to normal activities and can visit the
    hospital.

  • If you are actively coughing, but have no other symptoms, masks are available.  Please feel free
    to use one.

  • Please use good hand hygiene.
