Community Outreach

The Community Outreach program began at Macon County General Hospital in April 2002. We are
located at 420 College Street, Suite C (Next to Bray's Tires) in Lafayette,TN.
The following is a list of educational classes that to help educate our community with different
health topics in our community.
Diabetes Education Program - is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-
Management Education*. We offer diabetes self management education classes on the third
Friday of each month. Most insurance will cover this class. Please check with your insurance
company to see if they cover this education class. You will also need a physician/provider
referral.
Diabetes Educational Support Group - We meet on the Fourth Monday night of each month at 6:
00 p.m. at the Community Outreach Center. There is no cost for this class and any diabetic
patient is more than welcome to attend.
Grief Support Group meets in 12 week sessions. If you are interested give the center a call.
CPR Classes - We offer CPR /First Aid along with Health Care Provider. If you are interested in any
of these classes please give the center a call.
Weight Loss Management Classes - The center offers 12 week Weight Loss Management classes to
help with the importance of daily exercise and motivate individuals to lose weight with Health
Alternatives.
Stacey Brawner, Community Outreach Director over sees the department with scheduling classes
and offering education seminars out in the community.
Janice York, APRN is the center’s Nurse Educator and Janet Skelton is the Registered Dietitian.
